　我国PLC技术在中小型产品方面已取得较不不错的成绩，但是在高端产品领域则面临严重的不足，这也是我国装备制造业的通病。国内PLC厂商能够确切了解中国用户的需求，并适时地根据中国用户的要求开发、生产适销对路的PLC产品。例如，和利时公司具有12年的控制类产品生产、销售及工程实施经验，积累了大量客户资源，了解国内不同行业、不同地区、不同所有制用户的真正需求，因此在产品设计时可以充分考虑中国用户的需求和使用习惯，产品的针对性和易用性更强。
　　由于是完全本地化的研发、生产、销售和技术支持，国内PLC厂商可以根据用户的特殊需求定制个性化产品。在实际工作中，有些用户希望在一个PLC模块上同时具有开关量输入、开关量输出、模拟量输入和模拟量输出等功能，同时输出既要有继电器的，还要有晶体管的。这种一般通用PLC不能提供的特殊需求，国内PLC厂商可以快速为用户专门定制。跨国公司的中国用户和中国雇员很难迅速将这种特殊需求直接反馈到国外的生产厂家，难以促成产品的改进。
　　由于是完全本地化的研发、生产、销售和技术支持，国内PLC厂商具有较大的成本优势，这种成本优势直接转变为产品价格优势。国内PLC厂商的服务由公司相关人员去实施，PLC生产厂商可以直接面向最终用户。由于公司技术人员充分了解自己的产品，能够迅速解决实际应用中发现的问题，因而能显著提高服务水平和服务质量。另外，国内PLC厂商可以在PLC的售前、售中和售后中为用户提供免费增值服务。例如，面对众多的中小用户，和利时公司开展了免费培训和免费方案设计服务，得到了广大用户的一致好评。
　　由于市场竞争激烈，PLC厂商必须扩大产品线，以维持竞争优势，过去外商多以大型PLC为主，由于企业规模大产品线也完整，再加上大型自动化架构都必须以专案方式进行，除了产品品质外，对设备厂商的规模也有一定要求，因此台湾厂商难以跨入此一领域，近年来外商进一步将产品线延伸至中小型机台，对台厂造成部份影响，不过在仍保有价格优势的情况下，台厂在此的地位仍未被动摇，至于未来发展，仍有待观察，以下盘点下目前国内的PLC企业和发展现状。
